Vocaloid’s Not Dead. It’s Just Blocked on YouTube.
you know, there was that interview about how vocaloid has gotten less popular and lost its momentum, and like… kagepro WAS right around that tipping point now that I think about it.
like, you had popular stars “leaving vocaloid” generally, they broke off from “vocaloid” and got their own music deals, and at the same time, “story-based” vocaloid works did start to edge away from being “vocaloid” and just stories
and the thing is - coming from a purely analytical standpoint - vocaloid depended on being a self-advertising platform. everything was about miku, gumi, luka, ia, etc etc etc, and without it being “vocaloid” not just stories, but music, pvs etc are just… indie works. not vocaloid-indie, just indie.
it stopped being about vocaloid production and just became about production, and that’s how it stopped being self-sustaining.
There are so many catgirls in anime? I dont get it? Where are all the doggirls?
I just remembered an anime with a dog girl and I immediately regret this post
Wait! What anime has a doggirl?
Fullmetal Alchemist
like as a follow-up: who created Miku?
the “formal” answer is Crypton Future Media and Fujita Saki, but it only answers the question of who created the software product; the concept of “Miku”, being treated as an individual, sort of singer-roleplay actress hybrid, is one carefully and slowly cultivated by a collective fanbase
you can choose to view the Miku concerts as a live performance with a hologram projection and a fake singer, or you can view it as a sort of phenomenon with a concept formed by combined mental images, musical and visual contributions, and a sort of mutual agreement; Miku’s “character” is only something that exists in the sense that she is continually being defined by collective intent, and that the fanbase is reveling in its creation
So my boyfriend is now officially hooked on Higurashi. And apparently we’re cosplaying as Keiichi and Rena at our next anime convention.
